E., Traffic Engineer �(i✓� <br /> SUBJECT: 21 st Street/Locust Street Intersection Improvement <br /> City Project 9851 <br /> An item on the agenda for the September 7, 1999, City Council meeting is the acceptance of <br /> bids and award of a contract for City Project 9851, 21st/Locust Street Intersection improvements. <br /> This project will consist of modifying the intersection of 21st and Locust Streets with <br /> concrete pavement and larger radius curb returns in order to better accommodate large truck <br /> traffic. The State of Illinois is contributing $10,000 in truck access funds toward this project. <br /> The project plans and specifications were prepared by the Traffic Engineer. The project was <br /> advertised August 18, 1999, and bids were opened on August 30, 1999. The results of the letting <br /> are as follows: <br /> Compared to <br /> Engineer's Est. <br />, Bidder Bid Price Over(-Under� <br /> Engineer's Estimate $152,338.90 --- <br /> Entler Excavating Company Inc. 151,581.95 (-0.49%) <br /> Otto Baum Company Inc. 159,052.84 4.41% <br /> Funding for this project will be from the City's Capital Improvements Fund. <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding <br /> the contract for City Project 9851, 21st/Locust Street Intersection improvements, to Entler <br />
