E., Traffic Engineer�y17�-t/( <br /> SUBJECT: Traffic Signal Improvements <br /> City Project 9909 <br /> An item on the agenda for the September 7, 1999, City Council meeting is the acceptance of <br /> bids and award of a contract for traffic signal improvements at the intersections of Main / <br /> Church, Maryland / Lost Bridge Road, Jasper / Grand, Jasper / Marietta, Martin Luther King / <br /> Grand, and Franklin Street Road/First Drive. <br /> This project will consist of replacing the existing old traffic signals at the intersections of <br /> Main/ Church and Maryland/Lost Bridge Road with state-of-the-art signal equipment including <br /> 12-inch signal heads, new wiring / conduit and vehicle detection. The project will also add <br /> vehicle detection, new wiring, new conduit runs and some new signal heads at the intersections <br /> of Jasper / Grand, Jasper / Marietta, and Martin Luther King / Grand. New signals will be <br /> installed at Franklin Street Road/ First Drive under this project. The improvements are aimed at <br /> improving the safety and reliability of the City's traffic control system. <br /> The project plans and specifications were prepared by the Traffic Engineer. The project was <br /> advertised July 28, 1999, and bids were opened on August 17, 1999. The results of the letting <br /> are as follows: <br />
