17. The City shall provide and keep in force or, if required by the City, TMD shall <br /> provide and keep in force, and furnish evidence of, a contract or contracts of insurance with a <br /> reliable company or with reliable companies authorized to do business in the State of Illinois and <br /> approved by the City by which contracts ATE, TMD and the City are insured against any claim, <br />' demand or loss for injury to persons or damage to property resulting from, growing out of or <br /> connected with the management, supervision and operation of said transit system or its <br /> appurtenant facilities or either of them or any act or omissions to act by ATE or TMD or any of <br /> their employees, which said contracts of insurance shall provide comprehensive general liability <br /> insurance which includes Bodily Injury and Property Damage with combined single limits of <br /> $1,000,000, comprehensive automobile liability which includes Bodily Injury and Property <br /> Damage with combined single limits of$1,000,000, and umbrella liability in an amount of not <br /> less than $10,000,000 except that this obligation shall not require ATE or TMD to furnish <br /> insurance against injury to persons or damage to property caused by the negligence of City or of <br /> its employees. ATE and TMD agree that the City may self-insure for the risks described in this <br /> Paragraph. <br /> 18. As a self-insurer, the City will have the same obligations to defend and protect ATE <br /> and TMD as a third-party insurer would have under standard policies of automobile and general <br /> liability insurance. <br /> 19. If requested by the City, TMD shall furnish fire and extended damage coverage in the <br /> amount of the full insurable value of each transit coach in the transit system with a deductible <br /> clause not to exceed $5,000.00. <br /> 7 <br />
