Page 2 <br /> The City's Engineering Division and Water Production Division prepared a request for <br /> proposals for the inspection of the tanks. This request was mailed to nine consulting firms <br /> considered to have the experience and expertise for this project. Three proposals were received in <br /> response to the City's request. The three responding firms were Dixon Engineering, Inc.; Tank <br /> Industry Consultants, Inc.; and Liquid Engineering Corporation. A consultant selection task force <br /> consisting of John Smith, Water Production Manager; Michael Jontry, Water Production <br /> Maintenance Supervisor; and Stephen Swanson, City Engineer, rated the three proposals. The <br /> task force selected Dixon Engineering, Inc. as its prefened choice. <br /> Staff has negotiated an acceptable agreement with Dixon Engineering for the required <br /> work. A copy of the agreement is attached. The cost for performing the inspection and <br /> submitting a written report to the City for the two water tanks is $5,390. <br /> Funding for this contract will be from the City's Water Fund. <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution <br /> approving the award of a professional services contract to Dixon Engineering, Inc., for the <br /> Inspection of the City of Decatur's Elevated Water Tanks, City Project Number 9846, in the <br /> amount not to exceed $5,390.00 and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the agreement. <br /> City staff will be available to answer questions that the Council may have at the meeting. <br /> attch: 2 <br /> cc: Michael J.
