Williams, Jr., City Manager
Bruce A. McNabb, Director of Public Works
Stephen P. Swanson, City Engineer (,U
SUBJECT: Illinois Route 48 and Brush College Sanitary Sewer Extension
City Project 9716
The northerly eension of City sanitary sewer service was noted as a public improvement in
a prior areement between the City and the developer regarding property at the southeast corner
of the intersection of Illinois Route 48 and Boyd Road. The agreement states that the City will
extend water and sanitary sewer service to the property subject to agreed upon conditions being
satisfied by the developers of the property.
The design of the sewer extension was started about a year ago by the City's Engineering
Division to coordinate the design and construction of the sewer with the watermain planned to be
extended to the property. This was done to ensure that these services were available when
needed. The desin was completed and the required Illinois Environmental Protection Agency
permit for the sewer extension was obtained earlier this year. However, the project was not
advertised for bids until July because of continuing discussions and negotiations between the City
and the developers. At this time, the City staff is waiting to receive the final information from the
developers and is recommending that the City Council approve the award of the project so that
the project may proceed with minimal delay after receipt of the final information from the
developers.
The sewer will start at the southeast corner of the intersection of Mound Road and Route 48;
extend north along the east side of Route 48 to just south of existing development on the east side
of Route 48; then turn east and cross under Brush College Road; then extend north along the east
