• Attachments of additional structures to the taik(s) will be addressed. TIC has been
involved in the retrofit of more than 50 existing tanks to provide the basis for cellular
phone antennas as well as emergency response antennas and all of the accompanying
cables and appurtenances. In fact, one installation included the design of a 60 ft tall
structure mounted on the roof of an existing tank to hold more than a dozen different
antennas. TIC will include a discussion of tank modifications which should be in-
cluded in the original design of the tank(s) to avoid significant retrofit for future in-
stallation of these attachments to the tank(s) in the design memorandum.
• OSHA and safety issues associated with the iew tank(s) tivill be addressed. Since
TIC's staff includes engineers from tank construction contractors, TIC is uniquely ex-
perienced to address specific OSHA and safety issues associated with tank construc-
tion and maintenance which should be included in the new tank design. These issues
will be included in the design memorandum.
• Discharge systems for tcnrk draining will be addressed. The ability to drain the
tank(s) can be the source of a future headache. Developing the piping configuration to
allow for ease in emptying the tank(s) is an important aspect of this project. TIC will
address the issues associated with this design in the design memorandum.
• Design requirements for the painting ald logo to match the logo ori the existing tanks
will be addressec Since TIC developed the design specifications for the painting of
the existing tanks, TIC is very familiar with the requirements of this design. TIC will
provide a narrative discussing the requirements of this design in the design memoran-
dum.
• Altitude valve and bypass system similar to the existing tariks' system will be ad-
dressed TIC will include in the design memorandum a discussion of the altitude valve
and bypass system to allow the new tank(s) to operate similar to the existing tanks.
The tank operation system will control the water level and will respond to sudden
system demand changes. TIC assisted with the retrofitting of a waterworks system
that had tank operation challenges that provided water quality issues in the summer
and tank freezincing issues in the winter. Utilizing telemetry, unique controls and
pumping schemes, these challenges were easily overcome.
• Operating serrsitivity and impacts ori the Soith Water Treatnrert Plcrrt will be ad-
dressed Because the location of the new tank(s) may affect the operation of the
South Water Treatment Plant and the pumps, any negative impact which the new
tank(s) may have will be addressed in the design memorandum.
• Site security and lighting systems will be addressed. With increasing litigation associ-
ated with injuries from unauthorized access to attractive nuisances like water tanks,
site security is of paramount importance. Therefore, TIC will include a discussion of
site and tank security options which are available to better protect the site(s) and
tank(s) from vandals and other unauthorized persons. _
3-6 ,
