Task 201 Review Existing Information. Information related to existing
structures that may be modified for spill management or access will be
reviewed. This information includes as-built plans and previously
conducted field inspections of highways, bridges, and drainage systems
and the conce tual lan of the Lincoln Park Drive trail east of Lake
p P
Decatur Dam.
Task 202 Evaluate Improvements. Concepts for constructed
improvements, preventive measures, and programs for preventing or
minimizing the impact of spills or improving access to spill areas will
be developed. Constructed improvements may include temporarily
extending the outfall farther out in the Lake outside the area of
contamination until the spill can be controlled, controlling surface
drainage, improving access to potential spill areas, or restricting logs
and other debris from blocking the water intakes. Constructed
Improvements will be evaluated for effectiveness, constructability, and
relative cost. The results of this task will be the basis of discussion
in Workshop No. 1.
Task 203 Prepare Task Memo. A task memo describing the activities in
Tasks 201 and 202 will be prepared and sent to the OWNER for
distribution seven(7)working days prior to Workshop No. 1.
Task 204 Develop Conceptual Designs and Costs. Conceptual designs and
project costs will be developed for up to three systems of constructed
improvements that will be identified in Workshop No. 1. These
improvements would provide the most cost-effective control of spills
and would improve access to areas where spills are most likely to occur.
Conceptual layouts and planning level estimates of probable project and
0&M costs will be developed for each system of constructed improvements.
TASK 300 - DEVELOPMENT OF SPILL CONTINGENCY STRATEGY
A general spill contingency strategy that the Public Works Department
would follow in response to spills of material that could affect the
SWTP will be developed. The strategy will recognize potential
' regulatory requirements and available resources identified in Tasks 104
and 105. The strategy may include items such as notification of
SLW24:002 A—3 December 15, 1997
