Newell, Traffic Engineer <br /> SUBJECT: Proposed Reconstruction of West Rt. 36 Between Oakland Avenue <br /> and Moffet Lane and Jurisdictional Transfers <br /> An item on the agenda for the December 1, 1997, City Council Meeting is an Agreement <br /> (attached)between the City of Decatur and the State of Illinois for the proposed reconstruction of <br /> West Route 36 between Oakland Avenue and Moffet Lane and the jurisdictional transfer of <br /> various streets. This Ageement is in accordance with the Letter of Intent previously agreed to by <br /> City Council at the Study Session held on October 13, 1997. <br /> A presentation regarding the reconstruction of West Route 36 was made to City Council by <br /> City staff and representatives from the Illinois Department of Transportation on December 23, <br /> 1996. The State has finalized design plans to widen West Route 36 between Oakland Avenue and <br /> Moffet Lane. The proposed widening will include the installation of a 2 foot 8 inch concrete <br /> barrier with lighting to replace the existing median, new bridges over Fairview Avenue and <br /> Stevens Creek, and traffic signal work at the intersections of Route 36 at Eldorado and Fairview <br /> at Eldorado. Construction is antici�ated for the Summer of 1998 with completion in the Fa11 of <br /> 1999. <br /> The Agreement covers the following items in which the City will bear a portion of the cost: <br /> 1. The installation of lighting conduit, junction boxes and foundations in the concrete <br /> barrier median proposed for Route 36 between Oakland Avenue and Moffet Lane. The <br /> proposed lighting conduit, junction boxes and foundations will allow Illinois Power to <br /> install the light poles, luminaries and wiring necessary to light this 1.5 mile stretch of <br />
