Mr. Stephen P. Swanson
August 28, 1997
Page 7
with the City to select a package that is compatible with their software and experience
level of their employees. As an optional service, we will send our modeling specialist to
your office to train one or two staff members on the use of the software and model. We
anticipate that this will take several days and should probably done in two sessions to
allow the users time to experiment and formulate questions. The City will be provided
with a copy of the software licensed in their name as a part of the training progam.
Task 9)Report and Presentation
At the completion of the project we will prepare a report that presents the raw data from
all of the tasks, discusses the methods of analysis, and presents the conclusions and
recommendations in a logical framework. The report will include an analysis of condition
of the wells and recommended actions to improve or maintain the reliability of the
wellfields. The recommended pumping schedules will be presented. The projected impact
of the operation of the wellfields on both aquifers will also be presented. Map, tables, ,
gaphs, and other gaphics will be included to clearly illustrate the relevant points, The
report will include a separate section for conclusions regarding the reliable production ,
capacity for various operating schedules for the well fields as well as an executive
summary. We will submit the report in draft form to your staff for review and comment.
After revising the report, we will present the report to your staff in your office to discuss !
the relevant findings and answer any questions. ',
DELIVERABLES !
The deliverables from this project will be;
1). An interim letter report discussing the condition of the wells with recommended
actions to improve the efficiency and reliability of the wellfields a the end of Task 2,
2) A final report the presents the results of the study, and
3) A Modflow model of the aquifer in user friendly format that can be modified for future
simulations of the aquifer.
RELATED EXPERIENCE AND REFERENCES
Layne has a long history of involvement with the both well fields. We have drilled a11 of
the wells in both wellfields and have worked on the wells and pumps in the Cisco wellfield.
As a result of our history, we have a better sense of perspective and deeper understanding
of the water supply issues facing both wellfields. We have company files that provide
additional information on the background of the wells and the development of the aquifer.
