Mr. Stephen P. Swanson
August 28, 1997
Page 8
Our people have a knowledge of the history and conditions of the aquifers and wellfields
that only years of experience can provide. We feel this background allows us to provide
you with more insight and expertise than is possible for a company without this
backgound.
In addition to our experience in both service areas, we offer more well construction
expertise than can a typical consulting engineering company. Layne is a water ,
development company that offers both competent professional services as well as expert '
well and pump repair and installation services. As a result, we understand gound water
resource development from the aquifer through the pump discharge. This provides us
with the perspective to see a well field as an integrated system of an aquifer and water
extraction system. We know what it takes to develop and maintain a wellfield and we
know which modifications to the existing wellfields are the most practical and economic.
Because we can see the wellfield as both an engineering consultant and as a well driller,
we can provide you with the best aspects of a thorough understanding of the science and
engineering of a wellfield as well as the practical aspects of well design and construction.
PROJECT TEAM
Layne has put together a project team of highly qualified experts to conduct this study.
This team will consist of the following people:
Dr. John Jansen, Chief Geoscientist, will act as project manager.
Mr. Michael Lally, Principal Engineer, will provide engineering support for the
project.
Mr. Tiraz Birdie, Senior Engineer, will perform the modeling portion of
the study.
Mr. Tom Healy,Assistant District Manager,Layne-Western,Aurora,
Dlinois, project manager for the DeWitt County wellfield drilling project will
provide technical assistance with the analysis of well condition and wellfield
operations.
