Swanson, City Enginee� <br /> SUBJECT: Conventional Resurfacing <br /> City Project 9707 <br /> The City's conventional resurfacing project is the overlay of City streets with hot bituminous <br /> asphalt. The purpose of the overlay program is to e�end the street life and avoid having to <br /> totally reconstruct the pavement and to improve the rideability of the street's surface. This year's <br /> program will overlay approximately 8.71ane miles of streets throughout the City. <br /> The Engineering Division prepared the specifications for this project. The project was advertised <br /> for competitive bids and bids were received on June 26, 1997, for the subject project. The results <br /> of the letting are as follows: <br /> Compared to <br /> Engineer's Est. <br /> Bidder Bid Price Over(-Under) <br /> Engineer's Estimate $ 636,570.00 --- <br /> Dunn Company 622,395.00 (2.23) <br /> Illinois Valley Paving 634,385.00 (0.34) <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding <br /> the contract for the Conventional Resurfacing project, City Project 9707, to Dunn Company as <br /> the lowest responsive, responsible bidder in the amount of $622,395.00 and that the Mayor be <br /> authorized to execute the contract. <br /> City staff will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer questions that the <br /> Council members may have. <br /> attach: 2 <br />
