Marley, P.E., Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution Approving Bid and Authorizing the Execution of a Contract with <br /> Midwest Fence Corporation for Annual Guardrail Replacement Project, <br /> City Project 2015-27, Section No. 15-00527-00-GR <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached Resolutions authorizing the Mayor to <br /> sign and the City Clerk to attest to the following items related to the Annual Guardrail <br /> Replacement Project to replace guardrail along Lost Bridge Road adjacent to Lake Decatur: <br /> 1. Resolution appropriating $36,000 in State Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) funds for the Annual <br /> Guardrail Improvements Project. <br /> 2. Resolution awarding the contract for the Annual Guardrail Improvement Project, City <br /> Project 2015-27, to Midwest Fence Corporation, as the lowest responsible bidder, in the <br /> amount of$36,000. The resolution represents an expenditure of$32,000 as the low bid <br /> plus $4,000 for project contingencies. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: <br /> June 2,2014—Council approved Resolution R2014-61 authorizing an Intergovernmental <br /> Cooperation Agreement between the City of Decatur and the County of Macon, Illinois, to <br /> replace damaged guardrail on Lost Bridge Road as part of the Lost Bridge Road Guardrail <br /> Replacement Project, City Project 2014-04, for an amount not to exceed$20,000. <br /> June 2, 2014—Council approved Resolution R2014-60 revising the City's appropriation of <br /> Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) funds dedicated to general maintenance to include $20,000 for guard <br /> rail repairs. <br /> BACKGROUND• <br /> Lost Bridge Road Guardrail <br /> Beginning in 2014, the City began a guardrail improvement program aimed at repairing or <br /> replacing sections of failed, substandard, or deteriorated guardrail in the City.
