From the outset of this project, Engineering Staff requested that Little River enter into an
agreement with the City to cover the City's requested changes in the lift station. In February
1995, Little River began the construction of the lift station without a cost sharing ageement with
the City. The construction of the lift station was completed for a total cost of$84,206 and placed
into operation on March 20, 1996. In September 1995 Little River requested reimbursement of
$45 400 for the chan es to the lift station. From that time until recentl the En 'neerin Division
I , g Y g
Staff has been negotiating with Little River on the actua1 and rea1 cost to the City. All cost
associated with SDD and IEPA requirements have been excluded from the Little River request to
the City.
The Engineering Division has recently received a revised request from Little River based
, on the ne otiations. The re uest is for the followin items:
g q g
1. One Manhole $1,390.00
2. 95 feet of gravity sewer $2,541.25
3. 95 feet of sewer force main $1,520.00
4. Additional well depth in lift station to accommodate City $2,819.45
5. Access road to lift station $8,000.00
6. Upgrade pumps in lift station $4,000.00
7. Electrical upgrade to 3-phase pumps 6 497.50
TOTAL $26_768.20
These costs are based on the actual prices paid by Little River. It is possible that the City
can recover some or all of these costs when other properties make use of this lift station in the
future.
We believe that these costs axe appropriate and recommend approval of the attached
resolution.
Funds are available in the General Capital Fund Balance for the current fiscal year or could
be delayed to the beginning of the new fiscal year.
Attach.:
