Although there are two distinct test components, both components
will be executed simultaneously in order to simulate a level of network contention
consistent with that expected during production use of the network.
Outbound Traffic Test
The outbound traffic test will consist generally of the test host loading the RF network
with outbound (BDLC to 96+MRM) data traffic at a level required to simulate the total
amount of outbound traffic per hour per virtual channel as documented in the
DATAxADo Projected RF Workload as referenced above.
Inbound Traffic Test
The inbound traffic test will consist of loading the DATAx,Do RF network with inbound
(96+MRM to BDLC) data traffic at a level required to simulate the total amount of
inbound traffic per hour as documented in the DATA1t.Do Projected RF Workload as
referenced above.
Test Requirements
The required test resources consist of:one test host; l0 vehicles equipped with an
' Ericsson MDX 800 MHZ 25W Radio,a DATA1tADo 96+Mobile Radio Modem(MRM)
and accessories;l0 mobile test workstations;and sufficient City personnel to conduct the
test.
The test host will be provided by DATAxAo and is an IBM-compatible computer with
an RS-232 async interface for connection of the test host with the DATAxADo Base Station
Data Link Controller(BDLC).The test host will perform the following tasks:
• Generate test messages of a preselected size
• Pass these test messages to the BDLC at preselected intervals via the serial
connection
• Time stamp delivery of the test messages to the BDLC
Receive ACK or NAK messages from the BDLC
• Store test messages,time stamps,and ACK/NAK information in a
logging subsystem
:L?/0"
12
