The project was re-advertised for bids in July and two bids were received and opened on <br /> August 26, 1996. The results of the lettin� (a bid tabulation is attached) are as follows: <br /> Compared to <br /> Engineer's Est. <br /> Bidder Bid Price Over(-Underl <br /> Engineer's Estimate(B&� $ 223,728.00 --- <br /> Progressive Electric, Inc. $ 113,466.00 (49.28) <br /> Rathje Enterprises, Inc. $ 269,953.00 20.66 <br /> (DB/A Bodine Electric of Decatur) <br /> After the bid opening, Progressive Electric was asked about their bid amount to deternune <br /> the significant difference from the Engineer's estimate and the other bid. Progressive Electric <br /> determined that they had failed to include approximately $75,000 in their bid for equipment. They <br /> recognized it to be their mistake and have stated in writing that they will honor their bid and <br /> complete the work for the bid amount. Black & Veatch contacted four recent work references ', <br /> provided by Progressive Electric. No negative comments were received about Progressive ', <br /> Electric and a11 contacts expressed satisfaction with the work completed by Progressive Electric. �' <br /> Funding for this project is available in the City's approved Budget for this fiscal year. <br /> Therefore, it is recommended by staff, that the City Council approve the attached resolution <br /> awarding the contract for the Lake Level Monitoring System to Progressive Electric, Inc., the <br /> lowest responsive responsible bidder, in the amount of their bid price of$113,466.00 and that the <br /> Mayor be authorized to execute the contract. <br /> City staff will be available to answer questions that the Council may have at the meeting. <br /> attach.: 2 <br /> cc: Keith D.
