Unanswered questions on liability for possible township road damage near the site. <br /> Staff is still pursuing the use of the site and has applied for the necessary permit. However, it <br /> is unknown if the permit will be issued before the site is closed in late October. If the permit is <br /> issued before then, staff is prepared to go out for bids for the removal of 5,000 dry tons of lime <br /> residuals to that site. One contractor has already indicated to the City that it is prepared to bid for <br /> this work at a favorable price to the City. <br /> As an interim measure, the present contractor for land application (Corn Belt FS, Inc.) has <br /> proposed the removal of an additional 5,000 dry tons during the fa11 application season at the <br /> e�sting contract price of $18.75 per dry ton for a total additional cost of$93,750. Sufficient <br /> monies are in the approved City budget to cover both the additional removal by Corn Belt FS, <br /> Inc. and the removal to the strip mine site, if that option becomes available. Staff feels it is vital <br /> to the continued operation of the two water treatment plants to begin the process of removal of <br /> the excess lime in lagoon storage, and recommends approval of the attached Resolution <br /> authorizing the Purchasing Supervisor to execute an amended Purchase Order with Corn Belt FS, <br /> Inc. <br /> City Staff will be present to answer questions on this item. <br /> Attach: 2 <br /> cc: Beth B.
