A G R E E M E N T <br /> THIS AGREEMENT, made effective this 24th day of April, 1995 , <br /> by and between the CITY OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS, a Municipal <br /> Corporation, hereinafter referred to as the "CITY, " and JAMES C. <br /> BACON, JR. , a resident of Macon County, Illinois, hereinafter <br /> referred to as the "EMPLOYEE. " <br /> W I T N E S S E T H: <br /> WHEREAS, the CITY desires to hire the EMPLOYEE as its City <br /> Manager for the period and upon the terms and conditions <br /> hereinafter set forth; <br /> WHEREAS, the EMPLOYEE desires to serve the City as its City <br /> Manager for the same period and upon the same terms. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual covenants <br /> herein contained, and other good and valuable consideration, the <br /> receipt and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, the <br /> parties agree as follows: <br /> SECTION ONE. Period of Employment. This Agreement shall be <br /> effective as of April 24, 1995, and for an indefinite term <br /> thereafter, pursuant to Illinois Compiled Statues, Chapter 65, <br /> Section 5/5-3-7 ( 1992) , subject to the right of termination by the <br /> CITY, as more particularly provided for in Section 17, Paragraph A, <br /> and further subject to the right of termination by the EMPLOYEE, as <br /> contained in Section 17, Paragraph B. <br /> SECTION TWO.
