GOAL V - IMPROVE THE LIVEABILITY AND SAFETY OF NEIGHBORHOODS <br /> This goal is aimed towards improving neighborhood aesthetics, <br /> safety and the overall quality of neighborhood life. <br /> Short-Term: On or Before 04/30/95 <br /> 1) File demolition and nuisance cases on a timely basis; <br /> 2) Improve liveability of targeted neighborhoods; <br /> 3) Maintain high level of housing and environmental <br /> violations brought to compliance; <br /> 4) Facilitate the development, adoption and implementation <br /> of long range plans for two (2) target neighborhoods; <br /> 5) Establish team of neighborhood residents to conduct <br /> planning exercise for their area; <br /> 6) Provide funding to rehabilitate housing for low and <br /> moderate income persons; <br /> 7) Review status report on CPTED Program; <br /> 8) Initiate new housing/task force report; <br /> 9) Continue POPS (Problem Oriented Policing) ; <br /> 10) Continue neighborhood specialist training; <br /> 11) Evaluate GREAT (Gang Resistance Education and Training <br /> Program) ; <br /> 12) Report on demolition of property and continue <br /> aggressive demolition program; and, <br /> 13) Determine feasibility of redevelopment in neighborhoods <br /> with high demolitions. <br /> Long-Term: (next 2 - 3 year period� <br /> 1) Continue to develop and support neighborhood <br /> organizations; <br /> 2) Implement short-term objectives (i.e. , CPTED, NHTF) ; <br /> 3) Maintain demolition program of substandard property; <br /> and, <br /> 4) Select and improve areas for total redevelopment. <br />
