'��r �. <br /> ' �0376h 5/92 <br /> AGREEMENT FOR PLANNING SERVICES <br /> BETWEEN � <br /> - THE CITY OF DECATUR <br /> AND <br /> THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, ACTING BY AND THROUGH IT$ <br /> DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION <br /> THIS Agreement, entered into as of the ���`�=` day of June, <br /> 1992 by and between the City of Decatur hereinafter called the CITY, and <br /> the State of Illinois, acting by and through its Department of <br /> Transportation, hereinafter called the DEPARTMENT, is for regional ; <br /> transportation and related planning activities in the county of Macon in I <br /> Illinois, called the planning area, and particularly in the designated <br /> urbanized area of the planning area. <br /> WITNESSETH THAT: <br /> WHEREAS, the DEPARTMENT is mandated by law to develop � <br /> transportation plans and programs in cooperation with Federal , State and <br /> local agencies, and <br /> WHEREAS, FTA intends to give states the option (in urbanized <br /> areas under 200,000 population) to receive and allocate Section 8 <br /> planning funds (authorized by Section 8 of the Urban Mass Transportation <br /> Act of 1964, as amended 49 U.S.C. 1607) to be used to carry out <br /> transportation planning efforts, and <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Illinois shall make these funds available <br /> to the Agency responsible for carrying out transportation planning funded <br /> by Section 8 of the FTA Act (49 U.S.C. 1607>, and <br /> WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of Illinois has designated the <br /> CITY as the recipient of Federal transit funds for the urbanized area of <br /> Decatur, Illinois. <br /> WHEREAS, the DEPARTMENT has determined a need for continuing the <br /> transportation planning process in the urbanized areas, and <br /> WHEREAS, the CITY has specialized expertise in the area of <br /> transportation and land use planning and associated technical services <br /> and thereby has the necessary technical skills. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, the parties hereto do mutually agree as follows: <br /> 1 . Emplovment of CITY. The CITY hereby agrees to perform the <br /> services described in Appendix I, which is attached hereto and <br /> made a part of this Agreement and included in the approved <br /> Technical Work Program for the urbanized area. The Technical <br /> Work Program is by reference incorporated herein and made a part <br /> hereof. <br /> —1— <br />
