. -
Page 5
Thus, as the "CHAS draft" of Decatur's Strategic Five-Year
Action Plan makes numerous references to the Community
Reinvestment Act and the special roles that lenders can fulfill,
I would strongly encourage you to consider sending a copy of the
draft documents to each CRA Compliance Officer within the MSA/
Macon County area.
In your contacts with lenders you may also find that there are
special programs that multi-bank holding companies might have
available, ie, First of America's Community Development
Corporation or Magna Bank's working agreement with groups like
ACORN.
In summary, it appears that the new Comphrehensive Housing
Affordability Strategy will require continuing respect for the
homeownership focus that holds the fabric of Decatur together,
complimented by data updates, a description of new program
opportunities and a sense of win-win teamwork between the balanced
set of players that will be required to achieve a successful CHAS
Action Plan. .
It is my hope that the data and suggestions made within this
correspondence will serve as a modest contribution to the
objectives of affordable housing and livable neighborhoods for
our conununity, and I will look forward to receiving a final copy
of the plans after HUD lends its' blessings.
Respec mitted,
. /.•.-.
Fr d W. Krows, President
Midwest Associates
cc: Mr. James Bacon, City Manager
City Council Members
Decatur MSA CRA Officers /'
Decatur Public Library/Business Info Center ✓
