Amendments to Five Year Plan
The following changes should be made to the five year plan.
page 55
Programs targeted to Renters
Priority: increase supply. of safe, sanitary, decent
housing for small family, renter very low
income households
Add to Anticipated Results:
85 units (City of Decatur)
185 units (total)
Add to Program:
HOME
The corrected section should read as follows:
Programs Targeted to Renters
The following programs are defined as priorities that shall
be targeted to renter households to improve housing
affordability:
Priority:
Increase the supply of safe, sanitary, decent housing
for small family, renter very low income households
Anticipated Results:
Improve 185 units of rental housing over the next five
years
Rationale:
According to the most recent statistics, the rental
housing vacancy rate is approaching levels that would
suggest that additional low and very low income housing
is needed. There is a belief, however, that there are
a large number of units in the market that could be
made available to low and very low income persons if
the condition of the units could be improved. A program
targeted to low and very low income rental housing to
improve conditions and increase supply is viewed as a
priority.
6
