, .
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
MEMORANDUM
92-12
January 28, 1992
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members
FROM: James C. Bacon, Jr. , City Manager
David A. Clark, Director of Department of Community
Development
Robert S. Reed, Mass Transit Administrator
SUBJECT: Capital Grant Agreement with IDOT for New Buses
Upon City Council approval, the attached resolution will
authorize the execution of a capital grant agreement with the
Illinois Department of Transportation. Such agreement will
provide $1 .8 million for the purchase of 9 new transit coaches,
radios, and fareboxes. The buses will all be equipped with
wheelchair lifts and will replace 9-1979 Grumman Flxible 870
transit coaches. Delivery is expected by December, 1992 .
The Illinois Department of Transportation received a Section
3 discretionary grant from the Federal Transit Administration to
fund the replacement of buses in Downstate Illinois. The State
will contribute 25$ of the cost of the vehicles to match the
federal government' s 75 share; thus, there will be no cost to
the City of Decatur.
