ti ` <br /> � , � <br /> . <br /> the construction of the South Water Treatment Plant; the <br /> construction of the Municipal Services Center; the construction <br /> of the Joint Law Enforcement Facility; the authorization to <br /> request proposals for a new Transit Facility; the authorization <br /> to request proposals for the new Fire Administration Building; <br /> and, <br /> WHEREAS, During his tenure , the City received numerous <br /> awards including: Illinois Certified Cities Program; Home Town <br /> Award Program; Tree City USA; and the Illinois Clean and <br /> Beautiful Grant Award; and, <br /> WHEREAS, During his tenure, the community faced numerous <br /> challenges but under his leadership and guidance were able to <br /> meet them, including: the opening of Landmark Mall to traffic; <br /> renaming Broadway Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive; <br /> maintaining the water supply during drought; creating the DeWitt <br /> County Well Field; pilot recycling program; leaf burning; and <br /> challenges to the form of government; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Gary K. Anderson freely gave of his time to advance <br /> Decatur by serving on the Decatur-Macon County Economic <br /> Development Foundation, United Way of Decatur and Macon County, <br /> the Chamber of Commerce, Decatur Area Labor Management Committee, <br /> Boys ' Club of Decatur, Macon County Mental Health Association, <br /> Partners In Education, and the Downtown Decatur Council; further, <br /> he represented Decatur by serving on the Illinois Municipal <br /> League, National League of Cities Advisory Council , Governor' s <br /> "Build Illinois" Committee, and the Governor' s Steering Committee <br /> on Housing; and, • <br /> WHEREAS, The Anderson family fully supported Gary' s efforts <br /> through their encouragement of , and participation in, his civic <br /> duties; and, <br /> WHEREAS, The City of Decatur, its citizens , and city <br /> employees are all deeply grateful for the outstanding service to <br /> the Decatur community by Gary K. Anderson. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> DECATUR, ILLINOIS: <br /> Section l . That the grateful appreciation of this Council <br /> and of this community, for the service of Gary K. Anderson to the <br /> Council and to the community as a member of this Council be, and <br /> it is hereby, declared and published to Gary K. Anderson and to <br /> those who supported and made possible his faithful , conscientious <br /> and devoted public service. <br />
