ti ` � , � . the construction of the South Water Treatment Plant; the construction of the Municipal Services Center; the construction of the Joint Law Enforcement Facility; the authorization to request proposals for a new Transit Facility; the authorization to request proposals for the new Fire Administration Building; and, WHEREAS, During his tenure , the City received numerous awards including: Illinois Certified Cities Program; Home Town Award Program; Tree City USA; and the Illinois Clean and Beautiful Grant Award; and, WHEREAS, During his tenure, the community faced numerous challenges but under his leadership and guidance were able to meet them, including: the opening of Landmark Mall to traffic; renaming Broadway Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive; maintaining the water supply during drought; creating the DeWitt County Well Field; pilot recycling program; leaf burning; and challenges to the form of government; and, WHEREAS, Gary K. Anderson freely gave of his time to advance Decatur by serving on the Decatur-Macon County Economic Development Foundation, United Way of Decatur and Macon County, the Chamber of Commerce, Decatur Area Labor Management Committee, Boys ' Club of Decatur, Macon County Mental Health Association, Partners In Education, and the Downtown Decatur Council; further, he represented Decatur by serving on the Illinois Municipal League, National League of Cities Advisory Council , Governor' s "Build Illinois" Committee, and the Governor' s Steering Committee on Housing; and, • WHEREAS, The Anderson family fully supported Gary' s efforts through their encouragement of , and participation in, his civic duties; and, WHEREAS, The City of Decatur, its citizens , and city employees are all deeply grateful for the outstanding service to the Decatur community by Gary K. Anderson. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS: Section l . That the grateful appreciation of this Council and of this community, for the service of Gary K. Anderson to the Council and to the community as a member of this Council be, and it is hereby, declared and published to Gary K. Anderson and to those who supported and made possible his faithful , conscientious and devoted public service.
