These services may be <br /> provided by a local transportation se:vice or bv a shared arrangement with <br /> a Iocal health or social service agency that has the use of vehicles for <br /> participant transportation, or bv an individual. Transportation services <br /> inc:ude specialized and regular transportation: <br /> a. Specialized transportation is the conveyance� of participants by <br /> whee:chair vans or stretcher vans, or by other vehicles especially <br /> constructed, modified, equioped and used to transport sick, injured, <br /> infirmed or othe:wise incapacitated persons. Medicar:; covered <br /> ar�bulance se:vice is not covered under the demonstration. <br /> b. ReguIar transportation is the conveyance of pamcipants by non- <br />' � specialized vehicles, e.g., cars, cabs, or vans. <br /> 3. Ada�tive and Assistive Equipment - Items Relatin� to a Phvsical Disabilitv <br /> With regard to a participant's physical disability, adaptive and assistive <br /> equipment includes selected self-help items that assist participants to <br /> increase their functional abiiity to perform activiries of daily living and/or <br /> that are necessary for participant safety. Reimbursement can be made <br /> for the purchase and installation (whe:e appropriate) of various items of <br /> equipment, such as: <br /> a. Safety grabs and railings; <br /> b. Raised toilet seats; and <br /> c. Portable commodes. <br /> III-11 <br />
