. ORTECH ' <br /> , ` 2 <br /> • � Emission CoMrol System Evaluation � <br /> For: City of Decatur . <br /> The test engine is a 6V-71 NA Detroit Diesel heavy-duty bus engine. The <br /> engine will be shipped by Decatur Transit,complete with tlywheel,ilywheel <br /> , housing, fuel system intake%xhaust components, and the ethanol injector <br /> system. . <br /> The basic test plan will be as follows: <br /> � • install engine/calibrate all instrumentation/break-in engine. <br /> • Baseline engine periormance and emissions on neat diesel. <br /> ♦ Install ethanol injection system and evaluate engine performance and <br /> emissions with ethanol system deactivated. <br /> ♦ Install catalytic converter and again evaluate engine performance and <br /> � <br /> � emissions with ethanot system deactivated. <br /> � ♦ Optimize ethanol injection system. <br /> � • Operate engine for 40 hours with ethanol system active. <br /> ♦ Evaluate engine performance and emissions with entire system installed <br /> and operational. <br /> EnBine pertormance will be evaluated by operating the engine at peaktorque <br /> and peak power and collecting appropriate engine data. All emissions wi11 be <br /> evaluated using the EPA Heavy-Duty Transient cycle. <br /> 3. WORK STATEMENT <br /> 3.1 Tesk 1 -EnBine Setup/Celibration <br /> Engine installation and calibrations will include the following: <br /> ♦ conne�nstall fuel,coolant systems; <br /> • fabricate driveshaft plate tor connection to dynamometer�motor mounts; <br /> • • pressure end temperature instrumentation; � <br /> ♦ air intake%xhaust component setup; � <br />
