The wages of labor shall be paid in legal tender of the L'nited States, except that this condition will be considered satisfied if pay- ment is made by negotiable check, on a solvent bank, which may be cashed readily by the employee in the local community for the full amount, without discount or collection charges of any kind. Where checks are used for payment, the contractor shall make all necessary arrangements for them to be cashed and shall give information regarding such arrange- ments. f. No fee of any kind shall be asked or accepted by the contrac- tor or any of his/her agents from any person as a condition of employ- ment on the project. g. No laborers shall be charged for any tools used in performing their respective duties except for reasonably avoidable loss or damage thereto. h. Every employee on the work covered by this contract shall be permitted to lodge, board and trade where and with whom he/she elects and neither the contractor nor his/her agents, nor his/her employees shall, directly or indirectly, require as a condition of employment that an employee shall lodge, board or trade at a particular place or with a particular person. i. No charge shall be made for any transportation furnished by the contractor, or his/her agents, to any person employed on the work. j . No individual shall be employed as a laborer or mechanic on this contract e�cept on a wage basis, but this shall not be construed to prohibit the rental of teams, trucks, or other equipment from in- dividuals. VI. PROHIEITED INTERESTS No member of or Delegate to the Congress of the United States, and no Resident Commissioner, shall be admitted to any share or gart of this contract, or any subcontract thereunder. No member, afficer, or employee of the City, or its designees or agents, no member of the governing body thereof, and no other public official of the locality who eaercise any functions or responsibilities with respect to the Block Grant Program during his/her tenure, or for one year thereafter, shall have any interest, direct or indirect, in this contract or any sub- contract hereunder, or the proceeds thereof, for work to be performed in connection therewith. VII. LEAD-EASED PAINT If nny construction or rehabilitation of residential structures is re- quired by the provisions of this contract or any subcontract thcreunder, the contractor and each subcontractor of such work agrees to camply with and enforce HUD Lead-Eased Paint regulations, �4 CFR 35.
