Department of Labor, and will permit such <br /> representatives to interview employees during working hours on the job. <br /> e. The wages of labor shall be paid in legal tender of the L'nited <br /> States, except that this condition will be considered satisfied if pay- <br /> ment is made by negotiable check, on a solvent bank, which may be cashed <br /> readily by the employee in the local community for the full amount, <br /> without discount or collection charges of any kind. Where checks are <br /> used for payment, the contractor shall make all necessary arrangements <br /> for them to be cashed and shall give information regarding such arrange- <br /> ments. <br /> f. No fee of any kind shall be asked or accepted by the contrac- <br /> tor or any of his/her agents from any person as a condition of employ- <br /> ment on the project. <br /> g. No laborers shall be charged for any tools used in performing <br /> their respective duties except for reasonably avoidable loss or damage <br /> thereto. <br /> h. Every employee on the work covered by this contract shall be <br /> permitted to lodge, board and trade where and with whom he/she elects <br /> and neither the contractor nor his/her agents, nor his/her employees <br /> shall, directly or indirectly, require as a condition of employment that <br /> an employee shall lodge, board or trade at a particular place or with a <br /> particular person. <br /> i. No charge shall be made for any transportation furnished by <br /> the contractor, or his/her agents, to any person employed on the work. <br /> j . No individual shall be employed as a laborer or mechanic on <br /> this contract e�cept on a wage basis, but this shall not be construed to <br /> prohibit the rental of teams, trucks, or other equipment from in- <br /> dividuals. <br /> VI. PROHIEITED INTERESTS <br /> No member of or Delegate to the Congress of the United States, and no <br /> Resident Commissioner, shall be admitted to any share or gart of this <br /> contract, or any subcontract thereunder. No member, afficer, or <br /> employee of the City, or its designees or agents, no member of the <br /> governing body thereof, and no other public official of the locality who <br /> eaercise any functions or responsibilities with respect to the Block <br /> Grant Program during his/her tenure, or for one year thereafter, shall <br /> have any interest, direct or indirect, in this contract or any sub- <br /> contract hereunder, or the proceeds thereof, for work to be performed in <br /> connection therewith. <br /> VII. LEAD-EASED PAINT <br /> If nny construction or rehabilitation of residential structures is re- <br /> quired by the provisions of this contract or any subcontract thcreunder, <br /> the contractor and each subcontractor of such work agrees to camply with <br /> and enforce HUD Lead-Eased Paint regulations, �4 CFR 35. <br />
