+s
- Y= CITY OF DECATJR • ILLINOIS
r y #1 CIVIC CENTER PLAZA DECATUR, ILLINOIS 62523
.< <
.''
v..+•
Dear Consultant:
The City of Decatur, Illinois solicits your proposal for an
update of its 1983 Transit Development Program (TDP) for the
Decatur Public Transit System.
Decatur is located in central Illinois and has a population
of approximately 94,000. The City purchased the transit system
from a private company in 1972 and then hired a private
management firm to operate it. At present, seventeen buses and a
demand-responsive wheelchair lift-equipped van are operated
during the peak period. In addition, the City funds a subsidized
taxi-cab program for transportation of the handicapped.
The required period of performance for updating the TDP is a
maxi.mum of six months with a preliminary report due at the end of
the fourth month. The City and transit system will provide staff
assistance to help with the survey work.
This RFP includes a preliminary work program which is
enclosed for your use in preparing a proposal. Included in the
preliminary work program are the study design and the task
responsibilities. The work program is provided primarily to give
you a basic concept of what he study entails. You are encour-
aged to modify, expand or otherwise improve upon it. If you
respond to this request, please submit a detailed proposal in
four parts as follows:
Part I - Technical Proposal
The first section should consist of a technical document
describing in detail how you would proceed if awarded the con-
tract for the study; a general history of the transit planning
experience of your firm; a description of comparable transporta-
tion development studies conducted by your company; and a list of
related projects now in progress.
