Mr. <br /> Potter etated that the large homes in thie area became harder to <br /> naintain aB they aqed. The zoninq was chanqed to R-6 and the <br /> area beqan to deteriorate. The owners of noet of the <br /> �ulti-family reBidenceB do not live in them.� Kr. Potter stated <br /> that the neiqhborhood ie a nice one that can be even better. He <br /> cited the historical and poeitive aspects of the area. <br /> l�irs. Coulter questioned when the zoninq was chanqed from R-3 to <br /> R-6. Mr. potter stated that the zoninq wae chanqed approximately <br /> 25 yeare aqo. <br /> There was an objector present: <br /> Mr. Bruce Campbell, 2470 west Kain, was present and spoke aqainst <br /> the petition etatinq that he had lived in the area for a number <br /> of years. I�r. Campbell Btated that he is in aqreement with the <br /> neiqhbors who wish to improve the area. Mr. Campbell owns three <br /> (� � vacant lote adjacent to the Pottere that were purchased in <br /> ti�:���� anticipation of construction of an apartment buildinq which was <br /> not feaeible by the early 1980'e. 8e etated that the approach <br /> . for rezoninq vae inconsiBtent as lots seemed to be picked at <br /> random. I+ir. Campbell expressed concern that thoBe not included <br /> � in the rezoninq would face condemnation, decreasinq area property <br /> valueg. <br /> Mr. Ron Warden, 665 West Prairie, �as present and epoke in favor <br /> of the petition statinq that he had purchased two additional lots � <br /> with no intention to build apartment buildinqs. Concern vae <br /> expressed not with the intention of l�ir. Campbell, but future <br /> owriers� intentione should t�ir. Campbell sell the property. <br /> Mr. Jim Romano, 204 Southmoreland, was present and stated that he <br /> owns 624-626 West Prairie which is a remodeled apartment <br /> buildinq. Mr. Romano had no objection to the petition but stated <br /> that the properties which had remained Binqle family in use be <br /> rezoned to R-3 and aulti-family structures remain �oned R-6. <br /> Mr. Potter etated that the neiqhborhood will be best Berved �rith <br /> a sinqle family zoninq and Btated that he understood that a <br /> change in zoninq from R-6 to R-3 would not preclude th� use of <br /> � apartment buildings.
