— a —
Swartz believes that installing signs will not improve
safety or other neighborhood problems. He sees that, in order
to make the intersection safer, a yield sign will determine who
is at fault. This Commission tries not to over-sign and tries
to - limit signs to where they are absolutely needed. He is not
convinced either way.
Bauer noticed that all the accidents have been caused by
southbound vehicles and the tree obstructs the view.
Barthelemy commented that the neighborhood drug problem is
being enforced and a sign would not help the matter.
Swartz commented that the Commission is not opposed to
signage; the question is the proper signage.
Bauer would like to see a stop sign instead of a yield sign
because of the obstruction.
Schiller moved to place stop signs on Calhoun, and Main
would be a through street.
Barthelemy seconded the motion. Those in favor wee Phil
Bauer, Jim Schiller, David Swartz and Mark Barthelemy. Matt
Newell, Bryan Curlin and Judy Moss were opposed.
Moss is opposed because it seems the Commission has always
been in favor of yield or no sign when a stop sign is requested.
She feels too many signs could create accidents.
Curlin feels traffic on Main Street should stop instead of
Calhoun.
Newell stands with his recommendation. He would be willing
to do another evaluation in 30 days.
