CHAPTER 71
<br /> FAIR HOUSING
<br /> 1 . DEFINITIONS. As used in this Chapter, unless a
<br /> different meaning appears clearly from its context, the following
<br /> terms shall have the meanings provided in this section:
<br /> a. Discriminate or discrimination: To differentiate in
<br /> treatment between individuals or groups of individuals on the
<br /> basis of color, sex, geographical or national ancestry or origin,
<br /> race, religion, age, marital status, familial status, unfavorable
<br /> discharge from military service, or handicap, or any combination '
<br /> thereof , or on the basis of color, sex, geographical or national
<br /> ancestry or origin, race, religion, age, marital status, familial
<br /> status, unfavorable discharge from military service, or handicap,
<br /> or any combination thereof , of the friends or associates of an
<br /> individual or a group of individuals.
<br /> b. Dwelling: Any building, or structure, or portion
<br /> thereof , which is arranged, designed or used as a home,
<br /> residence, or living quarters of one or more human beings.
<br /> c. Housing Accommodation: Any building, structure, or
<br /> thing, or portion thereof , used, or occupied, or intended,
<br /> arranged or designed to be used or occupied as a home, residence
<br /> or living quarters, for one or more human beings, including any
<br /> vacant land appropriately zoned and intended to be used for the
<br /> construction or emplacement of any such building, structure or
<br /> thing.
<br /> d. Person: Any person, and includes associations, firms,
<br /> partnerships, corporations as well as natural persons, both in
<br /> these definitions and elsewhere herein, and as to partnerships
<br /> includes all partners thereof, individually, and as to
<br /> corporations, all officers thereof , individually.
<br /> e. Transfer: To sell , rent, lease, barter, sublease,
<br /> purchase, exchange or assign real property or any interest
<br /> therein, or possession thereof.
<br /> f. Age: The chronological age of a person who is at least
<br /> 40 years old.
<br /> g. Handicap: A determinable physical or mental
<br /> characteristic of a person, including, but not limited to, a
<br /> determinable physical characteristic which necessitates the
<br /> person' s use of a guide, hearing or support dog, the history of
<br /> such characteristic, or the perception of such characteristic by
<br /> others, which may result from disease, injury, congenital
<br /> condition of birth or functional disorder and which
