No. 87-12 Petition of ST, PAUL'S LUTHERAN CHURCH to vacate <br /> an alley situated between the 300 block of Weat <br /> Wood Street and the 300 block of West Main <br /> Street. <br /> Mr. Mark E. Jackson, Attorney, 406 Citizens Building, Decatur, <br /> Illinoie, was present representing the petitioner. <br /> Mr. Jackson etated the petitioner is in the proceas of purchasing <br /> the remaining portiona of this block and will soon be the sole <br /> owner of the entire block; the petitioner proposes to conetruct <br /> an addition to its existing building acrosa part of the alley and <br /> feels it would be more beneficial to the Church for its use than <br /> for the public. He stated he would be happy to answer any <br /> questiona. <br /> � <br /> There were no ob�ectore present. <br /> Mr. Johnaon asked if the expansion pro,�ect would affect <br /> underground utilities construction. <br /> Mr. Tackson atated the Church would cooperate with all utilities <br /> ( to relocate services and had received no ob�ection from the <br /> �. utility companies. Also, the Church would protect the City sewer <br /> in the alley and agree to help with the reaaonable maintenance of <br /> said sewer. � <br /> Mr. McQueen presented the recommendation of etaff: <br /> In as much as the petitioner owns or has contract to purchase all <br /> of the property in this specif ic block, ataff ia of the opinion <br /> that it is not neceesary to serve the general public and would be <br /> in the best interest of the City to vacate the same and let it be <br /> owned by the petitioner. We make that recommendation with the <br /> provision that there be the ueual retention of eaeement in thia <br /> case for the maintenance of a eanitary sewer and/or the <br /> facilitiea of the other utility companies. <br /> It was, moved and aeconded (Johnson/Brauer) and unanimouely <br /> approved that Cal. No. 87-12 be recommended to the City Council <br /> for approval as per ataff recommendation. <br /> Cal. No. 87-13 Petition of DOVE, INC, to rezone the premises <br /> commonly known as 788 Eaet Clay Street from R-6 <br /> Multiple Dwelling District to 0-1 Office <br /> District. <br /> Mr. Fred W. Spannaus, Executive Director of DOVE, was present and <br /> �. �. _ stated DOVE is purchaaing property located at 788 East Clay - <br /> Street, Decatur Illinois. They plan to rehabilitate the building <br />
