` t
 .
.
dock is located. For Pclice or other emergency purposes , the
number acts the same as a house address . I think that the
benefit of this system can be easily seen now that it has been
explained.
The proposed ordinance which will require the display of a de-
cal to indicate payment will cost $135 per year for the decals .
We asked our printer for an estimate of cost for printing the
dock numbers on the decal and the cost would be in excess of
$2 , 000 plus a cost of $5 for each new decal printed for a new
dock. We are currently bringing in less than $6 , 000 per year
and do not feel like the $2, 000 cost could be justified. For a
dock owner who does not have a number displayed at all, it wou.ld
cost as little as $1. 20 to buy 3" numbers similar to what is dis-
played on boats to as much as $5 if two sets of numbers must be
purchased and a small plaque made of wood to attach the numbers
to the dock.
We intend to work with dock owners this year and encourage
voluntary compliance with the payment and numbering system as
well as upgrading the condition of those docks which are in
deteriorating condition. We also will be looking at an overall
change in Chapter 66 for your future consideration.
