, ♦. S C
 I
COUNCIL MEIORAPJDU
#34-24
'ARCH 13, 1984
TQ: The Honorable Mayor and City Council Members
FROf1: Leslie T. Allen, City Manager
R; Codification of Chapter 30 - Traffic
An ordinance providing for the adoption of a revised
' Chapter 30 of the City Code has been placed on the agenda
for Monday, March 19 .
Much staff time has been devoted to assembling all
ordinances relating to parking not currently in the City
Code and to reviewing the contents of Chapter 30.
Bill Sands , Pat Vaughan, Frank Lambrick, Phyllis Sands ,
Jeff Broughton, and I have contributed to and reviewed all
draf ts .
The proposed revision includes all ordinances relating
to parking as well as provisions currently found in Chapter
30 .
The only substantive change is found in the penalty
nrovision. Other than for tickets issued for overtime
parking or meter violations , a uniform penalty for all other
parking violations has been included. The penalty is $5
if paid in 72 hours or $10 if paid after 72 hours . The old
ordinance provided for a variety of fines with no provision
for increased penalty after 72 hours . This provision is
' consistent with the Iate penalty for overtine parking.
If you have any questions , John Couter or I will be
prepared to answer your questions .
cc : John Couter
Pat Vaughan
 Frank Lambrick
Bill Sands
Jeff Broughton
