Marley, P.E., Public Works Director SUBJECT: Resolution to Appropriate Additional Motor Fuel Tax Funds for Microsurfacing of Streets and Highways by Municipality under the Illinois Highway Code, City Project 2015-24 SUMMARY RECOMMENDAITON: It is recommended that the City Council approve the attached resolutions: 1. A resolution appropriating an additional$80,000 in State Motor Fuel Tax funds which added to the $900,000 previously authorized for a total of$980,000 appropriated for the 2016 Intergovernmental Microsurfacing Project. 2. A resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Change Order#1 to the 2016 Intergovernmental Microsurfacing Project. The resolution is for an additional$80,000 for work to be performed on additional streets. The resolution represents the amount for Change Order#1 of$75,981.07 plus $4,018.93 in additional contingency. This is added to the original contract amount on $900,000 for a fmal authorized e�enditure of$980,000.00. BACKGROUND: Macon County has decided to microsurface Prairie View Road(County Highway 59)just north of the railroad tracks north of U.S. 36 to Ocean Trail Road as well as place a cape seal(microsurface+chip seal) on all of the bridge decks on County Highway 55. See the attached change order and request. Hickory Point Township has decided to not place a cape seal on Park Road between Illinois Route 121 and Bearsdale Road, and instead will place a cape seal along Hickory Point Road between Bearsdale Road and just east of Janvrin Road. According to the agreement between the City and the County and Hickory Point, the City will initially pay for this work along with all other work but the County and Hickory Point will reimburse the City for their respective portions of Change Order#1. SCHEDULE: The project is currently underway. The locations covered under this change order should be finished within the months of July or August. PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: • February 19, 2013-Council approved Resolution R2013-16 establishing an Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement for the sharing of certain costs related to the micro-surfacing improvement of portions of various public highways in Macon County, Illinois, between the City of Decatur, Hickory Point Township, Long Creek Township, Mount Zion Township and the County of Macon, Illinois. • June 15, 2015- Council approved Resolution R2015-79 appropriating$140,000 of State Motar Fuel Tax funds for the purpose of microsurfacing streets and highways under the applicable provisions of the Illinois Highway Code. • February 16, 2016- Council approved Resolution R2016-18 establishing an Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement for �
