. ` ' <br /> CHAPTER 44 <br /> ALARM SYSTEMS <br /> Definitions <br /> 1 . 1 For the purpose of this Chapter, unless context <br /> clearly indicates otherwise, the following words and terms <br /> are defined as follows: <br /> 1. 2 Alarm: an audible, mechanical or electrical signal <br /> from an alarm system which indicates the system has detect- <br /> ed a disturbance it was designed or programmed to warn about. ; <br /> 1. 3 Alarm System: a device or assembly of equipment <br /> which is designed or functions to provide an alarm upon <br /> detection of a disturbance it was designed or programmed to <br /> warn about. <br /> 1. 4 Alarm User: any person or entity owning, possess- <br /> ing or in control of premises wherein an alarm system is <br /> maintained. <br /> 1 .5 Alarm Signal Panel : the panel in the central <br /> communications facility in the Police Building wherein alarm <br /> systems terminate for transmitting alarms to City personnel. <br /> , <br /> 1 . 6 Automatic Dialing Device : a device programmed to <br /> trar�smit by telephone line an alarm to a telephone number <br /> selected in advance. <br /> 1. 7 False Alarm: transmission of an alarm indicating <br /> need of an emergency response in instances where an emergency I <br /> does not, in fact, exist. ; <br /> 1. 8 Alarm Answering Point: a facility operated and Ili <br /> maintained at a place, other than within the police facility � <br /> of the City, wherein alarm systems terminate and alarms are <br /> initially answered. <br /> Alarm Systems <br /> 2 .1 No alarm system other than an automatic dialing <br /> device shall be installed, maintained or operated so as to <br /> directly transmit an alarm to the central communications <br /> facility of the City by any means other than through a <br /> terminal in the alarm signal panel and then only with the <br /> approval of the Police Chief. � <br /> . ; <br />
