page 11 - Minutes of Decatur City Plan Commission - 10/2/80
Mr. Griesbaum asked if it would be subsidized.
The petitioner said they (she and her husband) owned a great
deal of property and they were financing it.
Mr. Grossman said as to the need for one bedroom apartments
in the City of Decatur, he thought as long as they have
Section 8 for rent subsidy, there would be an endless number of
requests for apartments. Under Section 8 you can get rent
subsidy up to $10 ,900 annual income. This takes in a considerable
number of people who would then be eligible for rent subsidy.
They are entitled to 10 up to $11,990. Just multiply this
by what is being done all over the country. ;
I
Mr. Griesbaum said why should our taxes to go to pay someone
else' s rent while our property values go down?
It was moved and seconded (Batterham/Grossman) that Ca1.80-76
be recommended to Council for approval. A vote was taken
with all members voting aye except Mr. Woodward, who voted nay.
Chairman's Comments:
Mr. Cusick said he wanted to take this opportunity to
introduce a new member of the commission, Mr. Richard Overturf.
The meeting was adjourned at 4 :10 P.M.

i
 CERTIFICATION: ! i

 ; i
 I
, Denene Wilmeth, Secretary of the Decatur City Plan Commission,
hereby certifies that the foregoing is a true and correct
copy of the minutes of said meeting of the Commission as of ,
October 2 , 1980.
. ,
_ `` ,

_ Denene Wilmet , Secretary
 Decatur City Plan Commission
I
. i
;

I
 -
 .
