No. 80-40 Petition of Decatur Housing Authority <br /> - to rezone certain tracts of land located <br /> generally at the southwest corner of East <br /> Cantrell Street and South Illinois Street <br /> from R-5 Two Family Residence District to <br /> R-6 Multiple Dwelling District. <br /> Mr. Record, representing the petitioners, stated that they <br /> - '�iroposed to purchase the old Riverside School and tear it down <br /> to build two buildings of five units each for the eld.erly. <br /> Mr. Al.pi said it is the same type basic building as the other <br /> project. Cantrell Street runs along the North property Iine. <br /> There is an existing alley which will be improved and parking <br /> areas will come off the alley. There will be one parking space <br /> for each apartment. There will be a small. community room. <br /> There is an extra space for visitors. The existing alley <br /> from the� West property line will be upgraded as well . It is <br /> now a dirt and cinder alley. They don 't anticipate extensive <br /> travel up and down the alley. It will be a one-story brick <br /> veneer type building, with extensive landscaping. <br /> Mr. Martin asked about the man who earlier had said he was an <br /> objector to this item. Mr. Krows replied that he was actually <br /> just inquring about it, and he, Krows , had answered all his <br /> questions and therefore the man had decided to go home. <br /> There were no other objectors present. <br /> Staff recommendations : Mr. ��enzies stated the current zoning <br /> for the site is R-5 Two Family. The R-6 rezoning request is <br /> for allowing multi-family units to be placed on the tract, which <br />
