In st�ch cases , charge for inspection and issuance of <br /> permit only, will be made for that portion of the street under <br /> which such services are installed. <br /> 5. BACKFILLING <br /> All excavations on paved s�faces or tzaveled roadways shall <br /> be temporarily restored to service by being backfilled with <br /> clean sand to within twelve inches (12") of the existing surface, <br /> then ten inches (10") of aggregate base course thoroughly <br /> compacted on top of the sand with the final two inches t2") <br /> consisting of cold mix asphalt compacted in place. <br /> The Street & Sewer Division will remove the temporary pave- <br /> ment and replace the pavement in kind at the expense of the person <br /> or corporation receiving the street opening permit, except <br /> the Illinois Power Company, the Illinois Bell Telephone Company, <br /> GE Cablevision, and General Telephone Company of Illinois . <br /> Such companies shall replace the pavement in kind under the <br /> supervision of the Director of Public Works. <br /> 6 . TRAFFTC CONTROL ' <br /> The permittee shall carry on the work authorized by <br /> ti�e.permit in such a manner as to cause a min�mum of interference <br /> with traffic. He shall provide adequate warning signs and devices <br /> to v�rarn and guide traffic and shall place the signs and warning <br /> devices in a position of maximum effectiveness . <br /> The minimum requirement for warning s�gns shall be a set of <br /> advance warning signs placed on all primary approaches <br /> to the work, at a minimum distance of 200 feet, but as required <br /> by best�v�.s�bility; suffa.cient signs and markers in the immediate <br /> vicinity of the job sha11 also be maintained. <br /> Where difficult or po tentially hazardous conditions exist, <br /> competent flagmen shall be provided to effect a safe and orderly <br /> movement of traffic. Where insufficient traffic lanes exist <br /> because of street openings , adequate bridging shall be supplied <br />
