BACKFILLING All excavations on paved s�faces or tzaveled roadways shall be temporarily restored to service by being backfilled with clean sand to within twelve inches (12") of the existing surface, then ten inches (10") of aggregate base course thoroughly compacted on top of the sand with the final two inches t2") consisting of cold mix asphalt compacted in place. The Street & Sewer Division will remove the temporary pave- ment and replace the pavement in kind at the expense of the person or corporation receiving the street opening permit, except the Illinois Power Company, the Illinois Bell Telephone Company, GE Cablevision, and General Telephone Company of Illinois . Such companies shall replace the pavement in kind under the supervision of the Director of Public Works. 6 . TRAFFTC CONTROL ' The permittee shall carry on the work authorized by ti�e.permit in such a manner as to cause a min�mum of interference with traffic. He shall provide adequate warning signs and devices to v�rarn and guide traffic and shall place the signs and warning devices in a position of maximum effectiveness . The minimum requirement for warning s�gns shall be a set of advance warning signs placed on all primary approaches to the work, at a minimum distance of 200 feet, but as required by best�v�.s�bility; suffa.cient signs and markers in the immediate vicinity of the job sha11 also be maintained. Where difficult or po tentially hazardous conditions exist, competent flagmen shall be provided to effect a safe and orderly movement of traffic. Where insufficient traffic lanes exist because of street openings , adequate bridging shall be supplied
