Perry, Purchasing Supervisor SUBJECT: Resolution Accepting the bid of Wm Nobbe Co., Waterloo, IL, for the Purchase of Two (2)2016 Global M3, Three- Wheel configuration sweeper SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommend awarding a contract in the amount of$350,000.00 to Wm Nobbe Co., Waterloo, IL, to furnish two(2)2016 Global M3, Three-Wheel configuration sweeper. BACKGROUND: The Public Works, Streets and Sewer Section needs to replace two (2)2007 Elgin Pelican street sweepers, due to the age and condition. The normal life expectancy is seven(7)years. The new Global M3 street sweepers will be assigned to the Public Works, Streets and Sewer Section. Street sweepers are used for routine street sweeping. Routine sweeping keeps curb line gutters and catch basins clean of debris for aesthetic value, safe vehicular travel and to help control debris from entering storm water runoff. Street sweepers are best management practice to prevent a host of pollutants from reaching nearby bodies of water. Polluted storm water is a serious problem in towns of any size and especially communities on major lakes and rivers like Decatur. The new sweepers are estimated to be delivered in 45 days. OTHER BIDDERS: Two(2)bid requests for proposals were received. A second bid from Key Equipment& Supply Co. was received for the amount of$391,394.00 for two (2)2016 Elgin Pelican sweepers. DISPOSAL OF REPLACED UNITS: The old units are to be traded-in to WM Nobbe Co. POTENT'IAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objections INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Fleet Maintenance wrote the bid proposal spec�cations based on Street& Sewer Section requirements. STAFF REFERENCE: Richard G. Marley, Public Works Director, Rennie A. Young, Fleet Supervisor. Richard Marley will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any questions of the Council on this item. BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Funding for the expenditure is available in the FY2016 Budget.
