The annual registration fee for registration as <br /> an electrical contractor shall be $25. 00 . The fee for examination <br /> shall be $25 .00 for each examination. Any person desiring to engage <br /> in the business of electrical contractor shall make application for <br /> registration as such to the Inspection Division upon forms prescribed <br /> and furnished by said division, which application shall be accompanied <br /> by a receipt showing payment to the Treasurer of the City of Decatur <br /> of both said annual registration fee and said examination fee. <br /> Section 8 . After making application such applicant shall <br /> present himself for examination by the Electrical Commission at a <br /> time and place determined by the Commission, reasonable notice <br /> of which shall be given by the Commission to the applicant. Such <br /> examination shall be prescribed by the Electrical Commission and <br /> shall be designed to test the applicant as to his practical knowledge <br /> of the installation, alteration or electrical equipment for the <br /> utilization of electricity for light, heat or power and such applicant' s <br /> knowledge of the provisions of this ordinance, of the rules and regula- <br /> tions promulgated pursuant thereto and of the provisions of the <br /> National Electrical Code and which said examination shall be <br /> sufficiently comprehensive to thoroughly test the experience and <br /> qualifications of the applicant and shall be wholly or partly in writing <br /> with a passing grade to be determined in advance by the Commission. <br /> Section 9 . If an applicant fails the examination, the annual <br /> registration fee shall be refunded. An applicant failing examination <br /> shall not be eligible for another examination for a period of 90 days <br /> from the examination failed. <br /> Section 10 . Registration as an Electrical Contractor may be <br /> renewed upon application without examination provided that such <br /> application,. accompanied by the prescribed fee of $25 .00 , is received <br /> by the Inspection Division along with suitable evidence of current <br /> insurance within 30 days of the expiration of an existing registration <br /> and may be renewed without re-examination within 90 days of said expira- <br /> tion upon receipt of such application, fee and evidence at the direction <br /> of the Commission for good cause shown. Otherwise, an applicant shall <br /> be again examined as above set out herein and in any event no person <br /> shall be registered as an electrical contractor without examination <br /> if application for such registration is made more than 90 days <br /> after the expiration of such prior application. <br /> - 2 - <br />
