Marley, P.E., Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution to Accept Bid and Authorize the Execution of a Contract with <br /> Culy Contracting, Inc. for 2016 Manhole Rehabilitation Project, <br /> City Project 2016-32 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that the City Council approve the attached resolution approving a contract in <br /> the amount of$161,023 for the 2016 Manhole Rehabilitation Project, City Project 2016-32, with <br /> Culy Contracting, Inc. as the lowest qualified and responsible bidder, and that the Mayor be <br /> authorized to execute the contract and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: <br /> The City Council approved the FY 2016 Budget which allocated funds for this project. This is a <br /> yearly major maintenance project for the City. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Sanitary Sewer Priorities <br /> Under the direction of the City Council, the Public Works Department has established four <br /> priorities to improve the City's sanitary sewer collection system as defined in the Sanitary Sewer <br /> Master Plan. <br /> 1. Critical Large Diameter Sewer Rehabilitation. <br /> 2. Sanitary Sewer Overflows Due to Inflow and Infiltration. <br /> 3. 5ystem Operation and Maintenance <br /> 4. Small Diameter Sewer Rehabilitation <br /> The 2016 Manhole Rehabilitation Project primarily addresses priority number 4 by repairing <br /> deteriorated sanitary manholes. Secondly, the lining work also addresses priorities 2 and 3 by <br /> decreasing the amount of ground water infiltration into the system and reducing the operation <br /> and maintenance costs in the system. <br /> � 1 � <br />
