� ' . 1 • <br /> -2- . <br /> replacement of all existing underground and above ground utilities I <br /> in the lineup , or near , said improvements ; and all necessary appurtenanc,�s <br /> thereto required to complete the sanitary sewer system. <br /> The slopes of all gravity sa,nitary sewers are given .in <br /> percentage and all sec�ions have a uniform grade . No sewer shall have <br /> a flow velocity of less than 2 . 5 feet per second and none shall have <br /> a flow velocity exceeding 12 feet per second . Mini.mum and maximum <br /> grades are shown on the detailed plans . <br /> The pipes and fittings for the sanitary sewer system are to <br /> be first quality vitrified clay complying to the latest standards of <br /> the American Society of Testing Materials , as shown in the attached <br /> . , <br /> "Exh ib i t 3" . <br /> Vitrified clay sewers are to be laid on an even, firm bed <br /> throughout the full length of the barrel so that no uneven strain <br /> will come on any pipe, and particular care will be exercised to prevent <br /> the pipes bearing on the sockets or bells . Excavations shall be care- <br /> fully made to receive the bells . Each pipe is to be laid in conformity <br /> with the line and levels therefor, and in the presence of an inspector <br /> from the engineers . The socket end of all pipe is to be laid <br /> upgrade . The spigot end of the next pipe shall be inserted into the <br /> socket end of the lower pipe until the face of the spigot comes into <br /> contact with the shoulder of the pipe all around . This spigot end <br /> shall be supported with sufficient jointing material to make the flow <br /> lines of the two pipes coincide at the joints . <br /> Tee-branches or wye-branches for house connections are to <br /> be vitrified clay pipe 4-inches in diameter , equal in quality and <br /> dimensions to that her�tofore described , and as shown in "Exhibit 3" . <br /> Tee-branches or wye-branches shall be closed by means of <br /> a disc or stopper cemented in place , and shall be provided and set <br /> r <br /> along the sewers , being located in front of abutting properties so <br /> as to serve such properties with sewage facilities . <br /> City standard manholes are to be provided at the location <br /> and depths as shown in "Exhibit 2" as specified in "Exhibit 3: . <br />� � <br />
