, ' � -3- <br /> (a) To aid in the developmex�t and restoration of historical <br /> and arc�hitectural sites and buildings existing in Decatur and Macon <br /> County. <br /> (b) Ta investigate and make recommendations to the Council <br /> and concerned units of government and others for official designation <br /> of areas, places, buildings, structures , works of art and other objects <br /> having a special historical, community or aesthetic interest or value <br /> and to make recommend.ations to the Council for appropriate action <br /> pursuant to Division 48 . 2 of Article 11 of the I1linois Municipal <br /> Code. <br /> (c) To familiarize itself with areas, places, buildings, <br /> structures, works of art and other similar objects w�_thin Macoi� County <br /> which may be eligible for said special designation anc3 maintain a <br /> register tnereof. In making its recommendation for said speciai <br /> designation, the Commission shall consider the folio��ing criteril <br /> concerning stic.h area, place, building, structure, work of art ar. <br /> other �imilar object: <br /> (1) Its character, interest or value as part of the <br /> development, heritage or cultural characteristics of <br /> the City of Decatur, Macon County, State of Tllinois, <br /> or the United States . <br /> (2) Its loc�tion as a site of a significant historic <br /> , event. <br /> (3) Its identification with a person or persons who <br /> significantly contributed to the culture or development <br /> of the City of Decatur, Macon County, State of Illinois, <br /> or the United States. <br /> (4) Tt� exemplificati_on of the cultural, ec�nomic, <br />
