. ,, . �� ' , <br /> , . . <br /> �� ORDINANCE NO. � � <br /> ORDINANCE AMENDING CITY CODE <br /> CHAPTER 50 - AN�UI.ANCES AND INVALID CQ�1CHfiS <br /> 4+�iEREAS, it has heretofore been determined by this Council to <br /> be necessary to license and regulate ambulance service in the City of <br /> Decatur, Illinois, to promote and protect the general health, safety <br /> and �relfare of the community; and, <br /> WHEREAS, it has heretofore been �etermined by this Council to <br /> be necessary for such promotion and protection of the health, safety and <br /> w�elfare of the community to cause and encourage the continued improvement <br /> in quality of the ambulance and invalid coach services available in the <br /> conmiunity; and, <br /> WF�REAS, this Council does now determine that said for�er deter- <br /> minations and findings of the Oouncil should be ratified; and, <br /> WI�I�AS, the Council xecognizes that the concerned departments of <br /> the federal and state governments, and nationally recognized associations <br /> and e ntities have exhaustively studied and have compiled and published re- <br /> commendations, standards and criteria touching upon all aspects of the <br /> furnishing of en�ergency n�dical services, including ambulance service and <br /> life support services duYing transit, for persons in need thereof; attd, <br /> �REAS, the Council further recognizes and determines that certain <br /> practices among e�d.sting ambulance ;services in this community as in others, <br /> including overt, intense co�etion betw�een services and their respective <br /> personnel, are inimical to the public health, safety and rrrelfare, and can <br /> reasonably be predicted to threaten the safety of health, persons, life <br /> and property if not restricted or abated. <br />
