That the provisions of this ordinance shall apply <br /> to those positions in the classified police gervice of the City of <br /> Decatur, Illinois, set out in the schedule marked Exhibit 1, hereto <br /> attached and hereby made a part hereof, which said positio ns are, un- <br /> til the further order of the Council, respectively assigned to the <br /> pay grades or ranges designated for each a5 shown in said Exhibi� 1. <br /> Sectio n 2. That until the further order of the Council, e�- ! <br /> ployees appointed to and serving in those position� set out in the I <br /> sohedule marked Exhibit 1 effective as of May l, 1972, shall be paid <br /> in regular bi-weekly in�tallment� in accordance with payrolls sub- <br /> mitted to and allowed by the Council, the annua 1 salary or wage �hown <br /> for the respective grade or range in the schedule marked Exhibit 2, <br /> hereto attached and hereby made a part hereof, at such step in grade <br /> or range that each respective employee i� eligible for and assigr�ed to <br /> in accordance with applicable rules and procedures and having continu- <br /> ous service not less than the followings Step A, e ntry into grade; <br /> Step B, 6 months in grade; Step C, 1 year in grade; Step D, 2 years in <br /> grade; Step B, 3 years in gxade; Step F, 4 years in grade. <br /> Section 3. That advancement from a lower to a higher step shall <br /> be made not more than once in any six month period as to Steps A to B <br /> and B to C, and not more than once annually as to all othex steps. <br /> Sectio n 4. An employee after bein g certified for appointment by <br /> the Civil Service Commission appointed to another classif ied position <br /> having a pay grade or range higher than the for meY position of such e�a- <br /> ploye� shall advance to the lowest step of the new pay grade or to the <br /> step in the new grade with the rate next above the rate of pay of such <br /> employee iimnediately befoze appointment v�ichever rate of pay i� higher. <br />
