J� <br /> ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR USE OF <br /> METERED PARKING SPACES FOR CERTAIN <br /> SPECIFIED PURPOSES AND ESTABLISHING <br /> CHARGES FOR THE SAME <br /> Wf-IEREAS, existing traffic conditions upon the streets of the <br /> City are such as to necessitate and require for the public safety <br /> and convenience of the City and its inhabitants and the safer and more <br /> convenient use of the streets that certain parking spaces be regu- <br /> lated in the manner hereinafter set out in this ordinance. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS: <br /> Section 1. Whe n it is made to appear to the City Manager, or <br /> some city officer or ernployee designated by him, that it is reasonably <br /> necessary that one or more metered parking spaces be continuously <br /> occupied from time to time by equipment, vehicles, or materials, or <br /> be used as work area in connection with construction, remodeling, <br /> repair or similar work of a not ordinarily recurring nature in a <br /> building whereat other space than metered parking spaces is not <br /> reasonably available, or when it appears to be reasonably necessary <br /> that for the safety of the public such spaces be left unoccupied or <br /> be used for pedestrian traffic by reason of such work, then by such <br /> mechanical means as may be established by order of the City Manager <br /> to give notice thereof, upon payment in advance in lieu of normal meter <br /> usage charges, of a fee for each space of $27.00 per month, or $0.90 <br /> per day, one or more metered parking spaces may be reserved from occupancy <br /> or reserved for such use as the result or in connection with such work. <br /> No such space shall be so occupied, or reserved, except in accordance <br /> with this section and upon the payment of the fee aforesaid. <br /> Section 2. When it is rnade to appear to the City Manager, or <br /> some officer or employee designated by him, that it is reasonably <br /> necessary for the proper and efficient performance of the work ordinarily <br />
