Public Works Memorandum <br /> NO. 2017-35 <br /> DATE: May 17,2017 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Moore Wolfe and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Tim Gleason,City Manager <br /> Richard G.Marley, P.E.,Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution Accepting the Bid and Authorizing the Execution of a Contract for <br /> 2017 Miscellaneous Sanitary & Storm Sewer Improvement Project, <br /> City Project 2017-09 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution accepting the bid <br /> and awarding the contract for the 2017 Miscellaneous Sanitary& Storm Sewer Improvement Project, <br /> City Project 2017-09,to Entler Excavating Company, Inc., (Entler) as the lowest responsive and <br /> responsible bidder in the amount of$544,754 and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the <br /> contract, and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTIONS: <br /> The Miscellaneous Sanitary& Storm Sewer Improvement Project is an annual project for the City <br /> and has been approved by the Council for many years. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Sanitary Sewer Priorities <br /> Under the direction of the City Council,the Public Works Department has established four priorities <br /> to improve the City's sanitary sewer collection system as defined in the Sanitary Sewer Master Plan. <br /> 1. Critical Large Diameter Sewer Rehabilitation. <br /> 2. Sanitary Sewer Overflows Due to Inflow and Infiltration. <br /> 3. System Operation and Maintenance <br /> 4. Small Diameter Sewer Rehabilitation <br /> The 2017 Miscellaneous Sanitary& Storm Sewer Improvement Project primarily addresses priority <br /> numbers 3 and 4, system operation and maintenance and small diameter sewer rehabilitation. The <br /> project is an annual project prepared by the Public Works Department to assist with both emergency <br /> repairs and normal improvements to the City's sanitary sewer system. <br /> Storm Sewer Priorities <br /> The 2009 Stormwater Master Plan addresses three main topics: <br /> 1. Stormwater Problem Area Prioritization <br /> 2. Regulation, Standards, and Policies <br /> 3. Stormwater Expenditures and Funding Mechanisms <br /> - 1- <br />
