ORDINANCE NO. Wa 3—q a-- <br /> ORDINANCE AMENDING CITY CODE <br /> - CHAPTER 44- <br /> -FIRE PREVENTION AND HAZARDOUS MATERIALS CONTROL— <br /> BE IT ORDAINED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DECATUR, <br /> ILLINOIS: <br /> Section 1. That Chapter 44 of the City Code of the City of Decatur, Illinois, be, and the <br /> same is hereby modified and amended by amending Sections 1 and 4 of Article I and Sections <br /> 10, 20, 21 and 22 of Article II, so that Sections 1 and 4 of Article I and Sections 10 and 20 of <br /> Article 11, as so modified and amended, shall provide as follows: <br /> 1. CODE ADOPTED. The same having been duly placed and remained on file as <br /> required, and subject to the additions, modifications, changes and deletions set out herein, <br /> the 2021 International Fire Code and Appendices (a)through (g) and(n), expressly <br /> excluding Appendices (h)through(m), ("Code") is hereby adopted by reference. <br /> 4.AMENDMENTS TO CODE. The following numbered sections of said Code <br /> are hereby modified and amended as herein indicated: <br /> That Appendices (a)through(g) and(n) shall be adopted as 2021 International <br /> Fire Code, expressly excluding Appendices (h)through(m) deleted in Section 3 above. <br /> 506.1 add: <br /> (A) Unless exempted by written order of the Decatur Fire Department, and in <br /> order to eliminate forced entries into structures and to avoid costly and time-consuming <br /> efforts in gaining access to locked structures during times of emergency,the following <br /> structures shall be equipped with a key lock box system at or near the main entrance or at <br /> any other such location which may be required by the Fire Chief or any other <br /> representative of the Fire Department: <br /> (1) All newly constructed commercial and industrial structures and places of <br /> assembly protected by an automatic fire alarm system or automatic suppression system or <br /> any such structure secured in a manner that restricts access during an emergency; <br /> (2) All newly constructed multi-family residential structures that have restricted <br /> access through locked doors and have a common corridor for access to the living <br /> quarters. <br /> (3) All newly constructed health care facilities; and <br /> (4) All existing structures undertaking additions, alterations or repairs which <br /> shall cause the same to conform with the then current provisions of any of the building or <br /> property maintenance codes adopted by the City. <br /> (B) All structures subject hereto shall be required to install a key lock box <br /> system prior to the issuance of any occupancy permit which shall then be functional at all <br /> times thereafter. <br />
