ORDINANCE NO.(30a9—t I <br /> ORDINANCE AMENDING CITY CODE <br /> - CHAPTER 47- <br /> -CONTROL OF ANIMALS,FOWL AND DOGS— <br /> BE IT ORDAINED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DECATUR, <br /> ILLINOIS: <br /> Section 1. That Chapter 47 of the City Code of the City of Decatur, Illinois, be, and the <br /> same is hereby modified and amended by amending Section 8 so that Section 8 as so modified <br /> and amended, shall provide as follows: <br /> ...8. CRUELTY TO ANIMALS. It shall be unlawful for any person to be cruel to any <br /> animal in any of the following ways: <br /> (a) By over-loading, over-driving, over-working,beating, torturing,tormenting, <br /> mutilating, abusing, starving,mistreating, or killing any animal or causing or knowingly <br /> allowing the same to be done. <br /> (b) By cruelly working any animal, including old, maimed, infirm, sick or <br /> disabled animals, or causing or knowingly allowing the same to be done. <br /> (c) By failing to provide any animal in his or her charge or custody, as owner or <br /> otherwise,with proper and necessary food, drink, shelter constructed of solid wood or <br /> other weather resistant materials with solid walls on all sides, a raised dry floor and <br /> sloped roof protected from excessive heat and cold and is of sufficient size to permit the <br /> animal to exercise and move about freely, ventilation, heat, air, sanitation or veterinary <br /> care, including medical care according to commonly accepted veterinary standards, in <br /> addition to the required rabies vaccination which shall include recommended <br /> vaccinations as required by accepted veterinary standards, and if diseased or injured, or <br /> exhibiting symptoms of disease, receives proper care and is segregated from other <br /> animals so as to prevent transmittal of the disease. <br /> (d) By abandoning, or leaving an animal without proper care or feeding, or <br /> turning out to die any animal, including old, maimed, infirm, sick or disabled animals. <br /> (e) By cropping an animal's ears, docking an animal's tail or performing similar <br /> surgeries except by a licensed veterinary by the State of Illinois. <br />
