'7�-168 �� AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE INSTALLATION, ALTERATION AND USE OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT AiVD ESTABLISHING AN ELECTRICAL INSPECTION DIVISION BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS : Section 1 .This ordinance shall be known as and may be cited as the Decatur Electrical Code. Section 2. Whenever the words Inspection Division are used herein, it shall refer to the Inspection Division of the Department of Community Development of the City of Decatur, Illinois, which division includes the office of Chief Electrical Inspector and said division shall have the duties , responsibilities , powers and authorities prescribed by ordinance and by codes adopted thereby. Section 3 , The term electrical contractor as used herein means any person ezgaged in the business of installing or altering by contract electrical equipment for the utilization of electricity for light , heat or power, but shall not include t?�e installing or altering of radio apparatus or equipment for wireless reception of sounds and signals , or apparatus , conductors , , or other equipment installed for or by public utilities , including j common carriers , which are under the jurisdiction of the Illinois Commerce Commission, for use in their operation as public utilities , or shall said term include the employees employed by an electrical � contractor to do or supervise his work. Section 4 . The term electrical equipment as used herein means conductors and other equipment installed for the utiliza- tion of electricity for light, heat or power, but does not include radio apparatus or equipment for wireless reception of sound and signals , or apparatus , conductors or other equipment installed for or by public ut�lities , including common carriers , which are under the jurisdiction of the Illinois Commerce Commission, for use in their operation as public utilities . Section 5. No person shall install or alter electrical equipment or wiring in the City of Decatur, Illinois , or engage in the husiness of an electrical contractor therein, without being registered as an electrical contractor under the provisions of this ordinance, provided that a person residing in a single family dwelling owned by such person, may install or alter electrical equipment and wiring therein subject to all other provisions of this ordinance without being so registered.
